Night life
This morning wasn’t a long one. While some woke up early to either have their last breakfast in the beautiful city of Taipei, others decided to catch up on some much needed sleep. After some time everything and everyone was packed up and ready to take the bus to the airport, eagerly awaiting their journey to the land of the rising sun.
After struggling a bit to actually catch our bus and its driver, the lovely lady from the hostel called him over and got us on the bus. While loading up the bus everyone said their goodbyes to Martin as he would be flying back later that evening and we even got a very excited goodbye from the hostel receptionist. Let us hope it was because she enjoyed our visit :). We then headed toward the airport and saw the last view of the Taipei skyline. It has definitely been a wonderful visit and we hope to get to come back soon.
Once we arrived at the airport, we played the most interesting game of ‘convincing the airline there is no overweight luggage’ and headed through security without any problems. While waiting for our flight everyone got their last souvenirs, nourished their bodies with the last Taiwanese cuisine for a while and emptied out their public transport cards by buying an ungodly amount of drinks from the vending machine. We then boarded the plane and most of us got some well deserved rest while flying across the ocean and over scenic views of the mountains.
After a short three-hour flight, the entire group arrived at Osaka airport. Getting through security took longer than expected because everyone had to fill out both an immigration form and a declaration form, each requiring extensive information about their stay. While most of the group eventually made it through, one person had lost their passport, either on the flight or at the airport, and couldn’t enter the country. As everyone speculated about what might happen if the passport wasn’t found, the committee worked hard to recover it. Thankfully, it was found on the plane, and after a couple of hours, we all boarded the bus to the hotel.
At the hotel, everyone was pretty tired since it was already 9:30 PM. After getting their room keys, most people grabbed a quick bite at McDonald’s and went to bed for a good night’s rest. A few still had some energy and went for an evening walk, while two unlucky people had to attend a final meeting for their case study. Fortunately, their meeting went well, and they could also go to bed to be fresh for the next day.
