Today was another travel day as we said goodbye to Argentina and made our way to our next destination: Montevideo, Uruguay. Originally, we expected the journey to consist of a five-hour ferry ride, but instead it turned out to be a shorter one-hour ferry crossing followed by a three-hour bus ride. Fortunately, everything went according to schedule this time, with no delays along the way. We arrived in Montevideo at around 17:00, giving us our first glimpse of Uruguay and its relaxed capital, home to just over three million people.

Unfortunately, the weather did not make the best first impression. A light drizzle and grey skies greeted us upon arrival, but that did not stop everyone from making the most of the evening. From the bus station, some of the group took an Uber to the hotel, while others chose to experience the local public transport by taking the city bus.

After checking into the hotel, we had some free time to settle in, explore the surrounding neighbourhood, and grab something to eat. The group split up, with some heading to the well-known Hard Rock Café for dinner and a drink, while others opted for Mexican food at a nearby restaurant. Later in the evening, many met up at a lively Irish pub, where they enjoyed live music, good conversations, and a few drinks. Others preferred a quieter evening back at the hotel, spending time playing cards or a game of pool before calling it an early night. Although the day was mainly spent travelling, it provided a pleasant introduction to Uruguay and marked the beginning of the next stage of our South American adventure.
