The original plan for this day was to visit the Caminito street, but Patricia, Helia and I (Anvitha) had already visited it the day before because we saw that today’s weather was going to be very rainy.

Together with Winnie and Micha, I (Elin) had also visited the Camino/Boca neighborhood already. Here we joined a walking tour half way through. The guide told us all about the origin of the colorful houses. These were painted against rust using leftover paint from art. Additionally tango started out in this neighbourhood with working man dancing together. This really surprised us because nowadays its known to be more sensual. The guide continued to tell us this is because the man often hanged out with ladies of the night. Hence its more sensual and secretive origin, this is also why u often see these tango bars in cellars or behind curtains. The tour took us even outside the touristic areas. We got to see the place where the first women in South America voted. Additionally we got to see the first voluntary fireman squad. All in all a very interesting neighborhood.

Anvitha started the day a bit more slowly by having breakfast and coffee at a cafĂ© close to the hotel. After that, we decided to visit the Fine Arts Museum, where we saw many old paintings and marble sculptures. On the first floor, we also got to see some modern artworks. Finally, we sat in the sun on the top-floor balcony, where we enjoyed views of some of the city’s buildings and, in the distance, the colourful houses.

Afterwards, we walked around the area, where there were several parks, and then headed to the bus stop near the Obelisco in the city centre. We took some photos there before going to the nearby McDonald’s to get some ice cream and fries. Finally, we headed back to the hotel, relaxed in our room, and went to bed.
Elin and the others went to a cafe/bar made in an old monastery. This was very pretty and there was some good lemonade. In Buenos Aires lemonade made from actual lemons is often served. Here there is often the choice between adding nothing, ginger or mint. After visiting the market for some souvenirs. We also went to bed quite early in preparation for the travel day after.
