Today was our first long free day. A group of people decided to go on a boat tour, where they snorkelled with fish, swam around the boat, and cruised around the islands and beaches.
Irmak and Anvitha, along with a few others, went to the Sunday market, which was full of stalls, to have breakfast and buy a few things. Afterwards, we went on a 45-minute to 1-hour hike up Morro Dois Irmãos. During the hike, we saw colourful bugs, huge ants, a very cute monkey, and many different trees and exposed roots. It had a really cool tropical mountain vibe.
Finally, we reached the top, and it was an amazing reward! We had breathtaking views over the whole city. We could see all three famous beaches, the mountain ranges to the west, and the blue ocean to the east. We had lunch there, where Emma had a mango the size of her head and Sabine had a huge avocado. We also watched some huge black birds flying very close to us.
Once we came back down, we went to the Gento Market in Ipanema and then walked to the beach, with Morro Dois Irmãos standing to our right.
After going back to the hostel and relaxing for a bit, we went to a local bakery for a cheeky chocolate dessert. Then we headed to a bar for some caipirinhas before returning to the hostel for the night.
