Today, the free day in Sao Paulo was wonderful. Piotr decided to discover the targeted or ignored minorités in Brazil through museum exibitions of sexual diversity, favelas recognition and Alcione icon of african culture popularization. Those themes shows how Brazil is complex culturaly and how those minorités fight for their recognition. Sometimes successful as in case of LGBTQIA+ where the same sex mariages were alowed in 2013. Or fields that need more attention, like favela recognition and stereotype breakage. Brazil is a fascinating country that is complex and consist of many layer of societal groups that share a common goal of a happy life. Moreover, the popularization of samba and the artistic potential of Alcione helped Brazil to gain à unique representation around the global and recognition of african-brazil people.

Tymen decided to spend his day with a relaxed start by doing some laundry as his supplu of clothing started to run low. After this it was time to go to the botanical garden. Here a lot of tropical plants but the more interesting part were the animals. We managed to see multiple monkeys, lizards and armadillos. Unfortunately spotting a sloth proved unsuccessful, but we still have more opportunities for this when we got to Iguazu falls.

Other people decided to spend their free day in different ways and a large group of people decided to go to Avenida de Paulista, which is a very big road in Sao Paulo. However, on Sundays this road is blocked for cars and you can just walk around and visit multiple stands that have some nice goodies to take home. After this they went to the Ibirapuera Park.

In the evening however most groups met up again to watch the final of the world cup. Sitting at a local bar it was clear that the Brazilian clearly supported Spain, which luckily we also did. It was a tense game and luckily in the end Spain managed to prevail leading to some loud celebrations in the streets. All in all a nice free day in Sao Paulo!
