17th of July – Travel to São Paulo

We left our hotel at 945 this morning to exchange Rio de Janeiro for São Paulo. Since our chartered bus could not bring us we took the intercity bus. The drive to São Paulo should have taken 6 hours. First we drove and encountered some minor traffic when leaving Rio. After driving for a few hours we saw the statue of liberty, which might explain why it took so much longer to get to our destination. It was in front of a store and not the real deal but still. The Brazilian country side was quite nice, it held hills which would the Limburgse heuvelland to shame. There were quite a few cows but mostly natural land. Some of the land was on fire but controlled fire. After a short rest stop half way we continued to São Paulo. With some more traffic we finally arrived in the city at 2100. For those counting that is a whole 11 and a bit hours after we left the hotel. In São Paulo we took our third bus of the day, one could say we were busy, to the final destination the hotel. Our day ended with some dinner and drinks, which was quite close to our hotel. To be continued…
